Recorded at SUNY Fredonia over the course of spring 2016
Jon Clarke, Recording Engineer
Produced by Frank Valente, Paul Sottnik and Jon Clarke
The MELA Collective was formed by a group of students from SUNY Fredonia, with the vision to unite artists and musicians together, and to create art and music that reflects contemporary movements in our culture and age. Our major influences include "Steps Ahead", "Esperanza Spalding", "Snarky Puppy" and "Primus". Paul Sottnik and Frank Valente began writing and recording songs together during the fall of 2015 as a piano and vibes duo. During January 2016 they recorded a short EP featuring "Dak", "Think As A Mortal" "Intend to Get Married" and "On North Washington Street". This recording session was used as the inspiration for the album presented here, that was initially recorded in February 2016 at Studio A at SUNY Fredonia.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the Collective with your time, artwork, energy, and concert attendance.
